Every February in London’s China Town hosts the popular New Year Chinese Style

The largest Chinese New Year celebrations outside of Asia transpire each year in Londons Chinatown with upwards of 250000 people joining in. Many activities happen all over the city. Trafalgar Square is where the biggest entertainment area is. Chinatown fills with decoration and will have lots of Chinese Lion dances through its streets. Shaftsbury Avenue has a second stage at which more local festive persuits happen. Planning is a key to success with large gatherings so book your hotel well ahead.

Each year in February, Chinese New Year has been celebrated in England. It has happened for quite a long time now. But even if you choose not to enjoy it, you may well have heard someone mention it. The largest and most visted of these parties happen in central London. They take place at several locations as official events and there are also many not so official goings on. The Mayor of Londons Headquarters has granted a small amount of funding to assist with the festivities and the free use of Trafalgar Square.

Trafalgar Square has the largest events in it. It is situated across from the National Gallery. The nearest underground stop to it is Charring Cross, as it has an exit on the Square. This is where real performers from China and other entertainers will perform traditional Lion dancing and delight you with theatre and music. Because its a central London Square it is a well-known tourist attraction in its own right. However it becomes even more colourful as the Chinese community celebrate with us. Two real acts from China are booked to entertain you. The festivities begin at 12 oclock and are sure to keep going all day, finishing at six in the evening. This is a no ost to you event for all the relations to enjoy for sure.

Chinatown in London itself will have three Lions dancers along the streets. Local Kung Fu schools originally did these Lion dancing and many of the movements come from this art. The object of the dance is to pick the vegetables which hang in front of local business premises. This is said to bring good fortune to the proprietors in the New Year. Traditionally the vegetables would have been hung very high. This means it would be hard for all but the best performers to pluck. Traditionally red envelopes are a reward awarded to the best troupes. These contained a finacical reward for the dance if they managed to grasp it. There is also much splendid decoration and many other festivities transpire. The red  envelopes are also handed to the young by parents as a New Year gift.

The origins of this London Chinatown started no longer back than in the 1970’s. However as the central area for Chinese businesses, restaurants and culture it is second to none in London. Also some nearby eating houses may offer a special new years carte to the public. This traditionally is a fish dish but lots of  different dishes are also available. Therefore everyone can join us along with the family to enjoy the dance and next a fabulous eat to see in the New Year. Chinatown in London England is located in Soho and is thought to to start at Shaftsbury Avenue.

In addition another stage for entertainment is situated on Shaftsbury Avenue, which runs West to East through Soho. You will know this place as it is considered the very middle of the West End. Here resident performers will perform traditional frolics and addtionally some more up-to-date shin digs go on too. Therefore the opportunity thus comes about for you to partake of the days fun and a meal followed by a show in any of the West End show houses close by.

No matter what you plan you can be sure to get pleasure from it all and then some during the Chinese New Year in London. You will be enjoying a traditional cultural experience that can be relished by all the family and close friends as well in todays respectful London. As the nights get shorter our celebration will bring a little extra brightness into our lives as well.

It is something to look forward to for all of you. The best method to make sure you really have a good time at this festival is to reserve a hotel in advance. In Chinatown{you have|there are} lots to choose from that will be fabulus value for your cash. The hotel search we provide in the West End has a specific Chinatown hotel search available. From here you can select between the best and best value local establishment. Where ever you choose transport to the West End should be a simple matter using London underground.
